The monastic day was structured
around the seven canonical hours that were celebrated during the
day, namely, Lauds, which was celebrated
at daybreak, and thereafter the offices of Prime,
Terce, Sext, None,
Vespers, and the concluding office of
Compline. An eighth office, Vigils,
was celebrated during the night.
