Whereas Monsieur L'Amy and Monsieur Le Pruvost being 2 French-Protestants, haue offered vnto us to discover a newe way and order of husbandry whereby to advance the fruites and profitts of the Land And a newe way of fishing and of drying and salting severall kindes of fish, whereby to advance the fruites and profitts of the sea, And a newe way of mannaging a Forraine Plantacion, And lastly how by an orderly <H: and> regulated Way of Commerce forcing in the vent of these seuerall Improvements there may bee a settlement and continuall increase of trade made to this Kingdome, out of which (as they propose) shall arise greate benefitt to all particular Adventurers, and a setled advantage and power to the publique, and all this without any the least Constraint restraint or preiudice to any private interest or liberty. And whereas the orderly mannaging of the whole busines against inward Confusion and disorder or outward obtrusion &[letter deleted?] violence, And the incouragement of [H: etc. etc.] and their freinds [catchword: &]

and acquaintance (Vpon their owne Charge and hazard) to set the busines on foote and to hold it forth to the subjects of this Kingdome, cannot (as is pretended) be grounded on a lesse [foundation? altered] then a publique authority ingaged by its owne interest and advantage in the busines And lastly whereas wee the Lords &Commons in Parliament Assembled, are on the one side not willing to suffer any offerr of advantage to the publique to be lost, nor yet on the other side to preiudice any publique or privat profit or liberty. Bee it thereof ordained by the Lords and Commons That noe person shall in any kinde be either Constrained to the vse of what [H: etc. etc. - shall] hereafter discover, or restrained from any former Course or way, That noe persons (vnder certaine dutyes paid or performed to the 2 Houses of Parliament and leaue from them) shall be excluded from the vse and advantages[altered from advantage?] of the seuerall wayes &misteries which shall bee discovered, And bee it further ordained That what person soeuer in this Kingdome shall vse any of the aboue [catchword: mencioned]

mentioned wayes and misteryes (if after discouery they proove newe and not formerly vsed) without leaue first had, and without certaine Conditions (to be hereafter imposed) first performed or secured to the 2 Houses, shall forfeite his whole adventure and the profits thereof to the two houses of Parliament, and 1000 lb besides 2/3 whereof to be given to the Poore and 1/3 to the Informer./
