Sweete Mr. Hartleb & my deere friend and
brother in the Lord Iesus./
Although it pleased <God> my monyes were so disposed & engaged, that I could not helpe you in your neede, yet haue ou few friends that shall more joy in[altered from on] your welfare & pray for the same, then this poor friend of yours. I hoped to haue heard before now of your matters & how the Lord did rayse you vp helpers: but you are vtterly silent./ Indeede I feare you haue not had my last letters; the answere to yours. I committed them to Mr Harris the lecturer of Bow, who fell ill & melancholy, & although he promised mee to be acquaynted with you, yet went hee downe into the country & never wrot mee any word what he had done therein./ I long for some joyfull lines from you, both of common affairs & [also edge torn] your owne particular, as you did promise in your last, as soone as you should get any./   what prayses can wee render &c. for the prosperity of the King of Sweden & the succour of the poore Princes and people of Germany! The Lord keep his <hart> vpright from private aymes & then wee Feare not./ Farwell deare friend & prosper
