Deare freind
This Morning I left yow a letter at home wherin was inclosed one from this bearer to me, that yow might see what offer hee hath made of himself, now I send himself to yow that yow may bee acquainted with him; & here yow haue Mr Rutherford his letter to me on his behalfe. I haue acquainted him with the state of our Colledge that it is like to bee stopped either by euill will or for want of authoritie or because the Trustees doe not concurre in Counsell: & so I can promise him nothing with confidence; the man seemes to me able & Pious Modest & Discreet & worth some employment if God offer a fit opportunitie to recommend him to it, if not here, else where: upon all these Considerations hee is worth yowr acquaintance & though I should not desire it I hope his owne behaviour will Challenge yowr favour in what yow can doe for him; I commend yow to God & rest
                                yowr most Faithfull
