               Nov. 6. 1650
Wheras j haue this day received of Mr Richard Egleston of London Merchant, the sume of 30lb as engaged with mee in relation to the perfecting of an Invention which I haue by Gods assistance almost finished, and expect by his blessing to finish very shortly, which said Invention when perfected will bee applicable to many vses very beneficial. viz.
     To grind all sorts of Corne and Graine Malt. seeds for oile Redwood Colours Sugar. etc.
     To saw all sorts of Timber or stone.
     To Beate Hempe Flax Iron, blacke and white Plate. etc.
     To draw wire etc.
     To Draine Meares or Mines of all sorts.
     To Raise Water for the supply of Cities Great Towns or Houses etc.
And finally for all purposes that are necessary or possible to bee done by wind water Horses or Men in great Workes. And is tearmed A

A Lessening the distance betweene strenght and Time.
I doe hereby for and in respect of the said sume, give and grant vnto Him the said Richard Egleston one eleaventh share part or interest in and vnto all profits, vses, advantages or contracts, which shall hereafter arise or bee in or concerning the said Invention as it relates to that one single and particular application, which hee the said Richard Egleston shall make choice of and no farther.   Provided that hee the said Richard Egleston shal and doe beare pay and discharge one eight part or share of all such further or other charge or expence, as shal bee necessarily expended for the best advancement of that particular vse or application soe by him made choice of and not otherwise.   Alwaies excepting the first Engine now making. And alwaies intending the concurrence of all others jointly concerned in the same Designe. Given vnder
