To the first he saith that a little before Christmas last he did bargain with Thomas Stanley gent for a house and certain lands for a term for the which he this examinate was to give unto him a certain sum of money, whereof the said Stanley appointed this examinate to deliver to William Gandy in this question named £13… and to take into his hands certain plate which the said Stanley had before pawned to the said Gandy viz one cup without a cover gilt… and a long chain for a gentlewoman… which this examinate did accordingly… To the second question saith the said cup was to be taken asunder in several places but in how many he knoweth not but saith that the said cup being taken asunder contained six parcels and that about the said cup in one place these reasons were written down… To the third question saith the cup was a fair cup but whether the said sentences were written in black or blue he remembreth not and contained the reasons aforesaid.
