A bell metal standing cup, dated 1700. The tulip-form bowl inscribed, on a triple-knopped and columnar stem and spreading foot, the underside with paper label ‘T2291/5’. Formerly gilded. (Bell metal is an alloy of copper and tin that enables the redness of copper without making it too soft).
Inscribed:
‘The gift of Richard Keat to/Thomas Keat/Katherine Wife/1700’
Also monogrammed ‘R K’
