Whereas we the constables of Flixton being very sore burdened at several times with wandering people which say they come forth of Ireland and other remote places of this kingdom under the pretence of lawful pass do challenge find quarter at the alehouse or other places we not knowing well our duty therein nor how to get rid of them in such case do desire your worships advice and counsel what to do whereby we may neither wrong ourselves nor our townships the inhabitants therein so hoping you will satisfy us herein we rest… Whereas we have within out township one William Wilcock which doth brew ale without licence being as we suppose a needless Alehouse we desire your worships' warrant of suppression he being not willing to give over upon warning to do the same and so we rest.
