That your poor petitioner and is a widow and of the age of 60 years and above, and hath three small children, and hath small to relieve myself and my poor children and would willingly to keep a cup of ale to sell according to the statute a quart for a penny. That your good worships would grant your petitioner now at this general sessions a licence to sell ale and beer by and your petitioner will sell according to the statute: for and towards the maintenance of your poor petitioner and her small children, and your petitioner will put in security to your worships to perform the same and in so doing your poor petitioner will pray to god for your good worships in health and wealth long to continue...
