Showeth, that heretofore for some carding or ale, or some such small gaming in the petitioner's house (unknown to him) he was fined at one of the Court Baron for the right honourable the Earl of Derby's manor of Little Walton in 6s notwithstanding which one George Leigh of Hailwood doth this day seek to indict your petitioner, all being grounded of malice, as the petitioner can here readily proveā¦ The premises considered may it please your worships not only to cause the Jury to be informed hereof, but also in pity of the poor petitioner, to take such course herein, as to your worships shall seem to stand with right and equity. And the petitioner shall nevertheless ever pray for your good worships.
