Humbly showeth that your petitioner having a long time continued in the Town of Manchester, and there lived a helper unto the said town as need hath required both by free quarters and all other duties imposed upon him at all times, and having no other means nor calling to live upon for the maintenance of himself and his family but by the keeping of an inn and the lodging dieting and entertaining of such persons whose special occasions in trading call unto the town, and brewing of ale and beer, and now being taken of this is calling, not giving thereby any offence, his humble petition unto your good worships is that he may be restored unto his above said way of living for the maintenance of himself, his wife, and family and your petitioner shall be ever ready, as formerly he hath been to perform any duty or service that shall be imposed upon him by your worships or any other in your behalf, and... pray for your worships eternal healths and welfares.
