Whereas William Pooley of West Derby in the County aforesaid husbandman (having formerly kept alehouse in the place where he now dwelleth) is thought very fit and convenient to keep as is aforesaid, your humble petitioner's desire is that you would be pleased to licence and allow the said William Pooley for the brewing and selling of ale or beer, and we shall engage ourselves for his good behaviour in that case, (knowing that he hath formerly kept very civil orders in his house, and hath given good and sufficient entertainment to all men having occasion to use his house in a reasonable sort) may it therefore like your worships to grant him and us (who are petitioners in his behalf) so much favour as to condescend to the foresaid request, and we shall generally be bound in all good duty to pray for etc.
