Transcription
John Lancashire of Hopwood and Mary Unsworth of Castleton both of them obstinate and incorrigible alehousekeepers living within a mile of my house have kept alehouse about 3 years without licence, for which they have been several times lawfully convicted (the first 4 times the latter 3 times) and for the same have both of them been punished in the house of correction and other ways according to law, all which notwithstanding they still continue to keep and sell ale in their several houses in contempt of law and authority, to the evil example and encouragement of others.
