Humbly showeth that whereas your petitioner having a habitation situated in the common high road betwixt York and Liverpool and hath been an ancient licensed alehouse, and is for that purpose very convenient, both for fitting of diverse of the neighbourhood with small drink, and also for the refreshing of travellers and passengers in the aforesaid road with necessary accommodation, and forasmuch as there is a great work in doing about Bury bridge it would be a great ease to the workmen, to have their provision of meat and drink so near and commodious and withal your petitioners poor condition considered having formerly kept a cup of ale or beer, and is of honest and good behaviour and was never presented for any disorder.
