Showeth that your petitioner hath a wife and four small children and not any means for their subsistence, and heretofore licenced and allowed to sell ale or beer towards their maintenance and neglecting to use means for a licence at the last private Sessions hath therefore paid his fine of twenty shillings and in danger to be fined or suppressed unless your Worships commiserate his poverty and great chargeā¦ His request is (in regard there is not any occasion wherefore he should be suppressed) that he may be licenced according to the Statute and he shall carefully observe such Articles as shall be prescribed and however (as in duty bound) pray etc.
