We whose names are hereunder written being inhabitants within the Township of Sutton upon the request of William Johnson of Sutton aforesaid make bold to certify all whom it may concern that Katherine Dey now servant to John Barnes of Sutton aforesaid is suspected to be a woman of lewd and evil carriage and is notoriously known to be a common curser and railer... and utters very many base lying and uncivil speeches against her Neighbours: and is not ashamed to rail both against magistracy and ministry calling them drunkards and giving out many other reproachful words against them and that we humbly conceive that the said Katherine Dey merely out of spite and malice against the said William Johnson and for no other cause or end whatsoever doth persecute suit against the said William Johnson all which we make bold to certify as witness our hands hereunto subscribed the sixteenth day of July in the year of our Lord god: 1659.
