You are here:
The buildings
This learning-package will
guide you through various buildings within the monastic precinct,
beginning with the gate-house that
stood to the NW of the abbey, and from there moving towards the
twelfth-century church and the buildings
situated around the cloister, namely, the sacristy,
the library,
chapter-house, parlour, warming-house,
novices’ house, day-room,
monks’ dormitory, latrine
block (reredorters), refectory and kitchen,
as well as the lay-brothers’ quarters
on the western range. You can then
visit some of the buildings that stood outside the central core
such as the abbot’s lodgings and
the infirmary in the east, and
the abbey guesthouse, that lay
to the west of the western range.
